Cardiology appointment 11/22/09

We're all smiles here and happy to report that Beck had a GREAT cardiology check-up yesterday!

Beckham and I made our way up to Iowa City yesterday for a cardiology appointment and we couldn't be more happy with the results. After only one poke to draw blood, a perfect ECHO, X-ray, EKG, and labs, and a super cooperative 2 year old (seriously), there is only good news to report. The appointment was so perfect that there wasn't even a "but" used - you know, "he looks great, BUT," or "all the labs are great, BUT," or "we're thrilled with all of his progress, BUT." Yup, there was no "BUTS" in site! I think my favorite part of the appointment was when his transplant doctor walked in and said "it was so great to hear that your only concerns are for his skin and teeth (because of Beck's bad case of eczema and his stained teeth because of his meds)." All we can say is that we sure do feel the same!

As for the rest of us, we're all doing great. Nate recently interviewed for the Nurse Practitioner program at the University of Iowa, and we sure hope he gets in there. We're not wanting to leave the state yet...but we will if he does not get in there. Also,

this little cutie is officially potty trained! YEAH! It only took 6 months (I'm not exaggerating) and most of my patience, but it was well worth it. Now all we have to worry about it finding clothing that will fit her now that she does not wear a diaper.

That's it for now!

The Halloween that never was!

It seems that we are starting a trend in our household when it comes to Halloween. Last year Beckham was in the PICU, and this year Gwen and Nate were stuck in Wyoming because of a snow storm that happened on their way back from a Utah vacation (I will save that for another post) and Beck and I were stuck in our house because of his lock down. You'd think that I would just give up and assume that Halloween and our family are just a bad combo and to not even bother with costumes and candy and such....well....think again! I'm a true mom. And what true mom does not look forward to dressing their kiddos up (just admit it)?

So, even though we could not go out trick-or-treating, we (meaning I) still made time to show off our costumes and prance around outside. It was only a week late, but who is counting right?

Enjoy the pics of my cute little Ballerina/Tinkerbell, Gwen (that my Aunt Kathy made possible because of her adorable gift of Gwen's costume that she made by hand - seriously, isn't that tutu amazing?) and my little monkey man, Beckham.
